source for good quality euro style cabinet hinges
I'm in the process of rebuilding my kitchen and am having great trouble finding nice euro style cabinet hinges (you know the ones that need a 35mm recess to install in), My usual timber/building supply places only seem to stock nasty looking things with plastic bits that belong is chipboard and formica cupboards from Ikea.
Can anyone enlighten on where you get these from, ideally some where in North Melbourne, but online OK to.
Cheers
Joel

Hi Joel,
My Bunnings (yes, I go to 2) both stock cheap-and-nasty AND Blum. The cheap and nasty are in vacuum packs and the Blum are in little clear fronted cabinets showing how the different types are fitted. Worth a look.

Euro style cabinet hinges
You can get a vast array of hinges from any of Hafele, Hettich, or Blum. They all have electronic catalgues and will supply to the non trade and will deliver by courier if not represented in your immediate area. Hafele are good at supplying small orders and giving advice on applicability of their huge product range.
All professional cabinet shops will use the hinges from one ar more of these three suppliers. You may be able to obtain your needs from that source by direct approach as most shops buy in large lots!
You can also buy cheap drilling jigs from those suppliers that make the precise setting of the hinges easy (or easier). You can also make your own drilling jig from timber scraps in a matter of minutes once you have established the required set back from the door edge for the hinge type and application.
Most of these hinges have quite a wide range of adjustment capacity in three axes but the precise spacing of the distance between the hinges needs to be spot on; so its no short- cuts please if you want a job free of immense frustration trying to juggle the adjusters to accomodate poor work.

Thanks All!
Now pointed in the right direction, I'm preparing to photograph the end results (in a couple of months, got to finish framing first)
Cheers
