table corner braces
Hi Guys,
I've made a solid table out of tas oak. Its got a 35mm top and 90*90 legs.
I've attached the legs to the aprons with table corner braces so I can easily dissasemble it. Everything is fine except that there is a little 'play' in the legs which means the table isn't quite as solid as I would have liked it. My table corner braces have just one screw that goes into a threaded sleeve in the leg. Should I have used '2 screw' corner braces? I suspct that the problem is made a little worse by the fact that the top of one leg isnt quite flush with the top...
Any comments/suggestions?
Thanks

Are the edges of the apron square and plumb to the legs? If they are on an angle it will be hard to make them rigid.

I'm using one corner brace per leg, and I reckon my aprons arent as square as they could be... I'll have a look and see what i can do.

Andrew
Do your table corner braces look anything like the attached photo, and if so could you tell me where you were able to purchase them? For others out there, I am looking for a supplier of this type of hardware in or around Melbourne. Any clues please?
Thanks

Thanks Guys,
Yep, the table braces I'm using are he ones in the photo. I've had a look at how square the aprons of the table are and while hey arent pefect they are petty good I reckon.
Had a look at a similar table in a furniture shop and it used a timber bace and 2 screws into each leg, which I eckon makes more sense with a big heavy chunky table.
Has anyone come across a plan/diagram/description on how to use timber braces?
Thanks
