Telephone Seat
Hey All,
Well this is my latest project and only my first since finishing my Cabinetmaking course 2 years ago.
I completed my Teaching Degree last yr, and have landed a plum job at one of Sydney's best private schools, as a Technology teacher, so this is my firt FO (foreign Order) too.
I made this for my Mother Inlaw who loves a natter on the phone, I am yet to add the cushion to the seat, as she is not sure if she wants a cushion to hide the Tasie Oak.
Anyway, a pretty simple job, quite a few mistakes, which I hid quite well I think.
Cheers.

Nice work! I'm sure that she will be able to put some more things there other than her phone, looks generous about space!
Best!

Hi Hornet
Your phone cabinet looks great. Am I mistaken that there is only one hinge holding the lid on in the centre at back. Notice that it looked like you had put on 2 gate style hinges on inside and then changed them for the hidden one at back. Only concern that with one hinge the lid may tend to twist and then you might end up with mum inlaw sitting inside cabinet instead of on top - perhaps you had this in mind?
Great looking work and should add some brownie points along the way.

Thanks for the comments guys.
As for the Hinges, I did have 2 in place, but took them off to apply the estapol, then when I came back to the job a few days later (at school in the holidays) the hinges had gone walkabout, so I just used the spare one I had for the photo, andreplaced them with brass internal hinges at the mother inlaws.
Although the trap door would have been a good back up plan! HEHE...
