Timber Bargins?
First off I'm not sure if this is going in the right place but I've spent more than 1/2 an hour trying to work out where to put it without success.
Mind you the time was not mis spent as I found and read a whole stack of excellent random threads.
I've been offered a couple of packs of timber but I don't know if they are good prices or not. If they are bargins I'll grab them because I'm sure they will come in usefull but if they are just a bit cheap I may decide not to have all that money tied up in lumber sitting around.
100x25 Cypress (exotic I think) $500m3 ~2m3
100x100 Redwood $600m3 ~3m3
150x150 Oregon Heartwood $500m3 ~2m3
I know the cypress will come in handy for chests, a gate or two, table etc
I believe the redwood makes an excellent outdoor timber and my Mum wants a pergola among other things.
The oregon heart wood posts I'm not sure about. Shed posts? Would they turn well? Firewood? I don't know.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't know about price es BUT Oregon will be gone if put inground. Rots and is the best termite attractant I know of.
Redwood - Check to see if it's Western Red Cedar. If so it is great for lots of things and can be used outdoors.
Cypress - if it is soft and pink to reddish it will be exotic and not really suitable for outdoor use unless under cover. Could possibly be used for gates but needs good protective coating. Don't put inground. If the timber is hard and intones of yellow and brown with knots it is probably native. Excellent for outdoors, flooring and other uses.

The cypress dosn't have a pinkish tinge but does look and smell like exotic cypress I've seen milled and felled (not in that order). There are a few dogy bits though were I can see a bit of rot.
The Redwood is well weathered but seems very sound I'll have stack of uses for this.
Regarding the oregon I've been told that heart wood isn't very good for much. However having been told that I saw a Japaneese ladder made from from a split sappling and on this forum I saw a pic of a staircase made from heartwood squares.
If it was suitable I thought that the oregon would be good for me to practice my mortise and tennon joints.

Well I'm off to pick up some of that wood today. While I'll find a use for all of it if I give myself enough time I really only want some of each pack and the guy dosn't want to spilt the packs. I'm willing to have all $3800 worth of it sit in my shed until I need it (since its a bargin) but I'd rather get some of my cash back to use for other things. Would anyone out there want to buy some off me?

I have a feeling that Lyonville is nowhere close to the Mountains otherwise I would have some.

Ehh... no.
Got the first pack home today but had a bit of drama. The one pack is a full load on the tandem trailer, pushing the envelope a little, but normally fine. Today though my cluth plate had a heart attack. I've been expecting it to go for about two years so I'm not too upset and given the 3 loads of fire wood I've got in the last couple of days asking it to pull 2t today was understandibly the last straw.
Good news though is that the farmer where I pulled in to park the trailer while I limped home offered me two redwood and a bunch of pine logs several of which are really clean and straight.
