    Default Types Of Parallel Clamps

At present I do not have any parallel clamps. I know that I will require some in the future and it seems that might be sooner then later.

My question is what type of parallel clamps would you consider to purchase first? And why this type first? Do you have a mixture of parallel clamps?

Here is what I have been able to locate.

    The Bessy Revo K body
    The Jet parallel clamps
    Irwin Paralle clamps

Out of that lot the Bessey K-Body is the best. I have Bessey and Irwin and while the Irwin are useful the clamp head and it's locking mechanism I find very finnincky. I also think the Irwin's bar flexes a lot easier than the Bessey under high loads. The only thing I don't like about the Bessey is the pad can fall off or at the least move about if you're not careful. The new Bessey Revo Vario Clamps are on my buy list now too. Jorgensen are high on the list as well, maybe even better than Bessey for some styles.

    Default Parallel Clamps

One of the US woodworking Mags recently did a review on many of the clamps - I may be wrong but I think that the Jet clamps got the nod over the Bessey clamps. I myself have the Bessey clamps (from one of the earlier clamp orders) and am more than pleased with them.
So out of the bessey and the jet you would only be picky as to your own preferences of feel and ease of use I am sure that the differences would be miniscule - although having just said that I think the article said that the jet clamps may have had higher clamping pressure?
