No, I think we should just lobby Rob to open an Australian shop. If we all just kept emailing him he would have to give in eventualy

But then we'll end up paying "Australian" prices for them...

You're probably right but if their service and range is as good in person as online it would be ok

Thanks to all for the replies

Peter, congratulations you have just won the sneaky bastard award for the week!

Another +1 for get the Veritas toys. All of the Lee Valley/Veritas toys that I own work perfectly out of the box. The LA Block didn't even require a hone.

I would suggest scheduling several stops. If you go once you'll definitely want to go back!

More thumbs up here. I've got a few Veritas tools, collected over the years. Dad just gave me the medium shoulder plane for Christmas last year. The other family members are the low angle jack, the router plane and spoke shaves. All are a joy to use and just feel right.

Easy for me to say since I don't have to have them shipped half-way around the world though!

    Default Veritas prices.

Just be carefull and check the Oz to Canadian prices carefully.
I was there over xmas (Calgary) and spent up as usual.
When I got home I was gobsmacked to see that C--t had the new small detail rabbet planes for exactly the same $s as I paid.
As the Can $ was stronger than ours it actually cost me more to buy them in Canada than if I,d bought them here in Oz.Plus carting them back home via the US etc.
However the larger planes were definitely cheaper and there was a few that we haven't seen here yet.
We were staying at a cabin at a lake so had no internet access though the local library was an option I did resort to for a few things.
