    Default Wooden lamp Stand

    We 've been looking for a pair of wooden lamp stands for our bedside tables and I have decided I could make my own.
    I don't have a lathe however. Does anyone know where I might find some plans on making a wooden lampstand? (which doesn't involve using a lathe)

    Have a look for 'Arts & Crafts', 'Stickley' and/or 'Mission' on the 'net - there are a number of 'classic' designs for wooden table lamps on the 'net, as well as several books of measured plans, some dating back to the early 1900's & still being reprinted - a quick search at Amazon.com with the above key words will give you some book titles. As for straight out plans, some sites will try to sell you the plans, but there are a bunch of sites that have links to free plans too.

    The Arts & Crafts movement generated a LOT of designs that could be made with simple hand tools, and -I- think they are still good, easy on the eye designs.

    Go to your local library & see if they have any of the books, of if they will get them in for you thru' "Inter Library Loan" - you can then photocopy anything that you like.
