Sorry Ian I wasn't meaning to be uppity and I do agree with you about people having to know what they are doing before using some of these programs or deleting files. I also agree that most of the so called free programs out there are a waste of time but some of them work really well.
I do apologise if I sounded like I was having a go at you but It wasn't meant in any vicious or malicious way. The comments you made in your original post in this thread are valid comments and definitely worth bringing to the attention of usere who just might rush into something and delete things indiscriminately from their computes. I think we have all been there and done that at some stage or other.
No hard feeling my friend.Reality is no background music.
Cheers John

OH !! THANK YOU VERY MUCH WONGO!!! - did what you suggested and what I want to know who the hell is General Failure? and what's he doing reading my C Drive?
It's much lighter though Master Splinter so I think your theory might have some weight
No problems John - As a home tinkerer who "tries" to help friends out occasionally, I shudder when I get a call from a couple who just indiscriminately download every POS that they find and then whinge and whine when it all falls in a heap.
You would well know that the phone call to "have a look at my computer" means that there's at least 3 - 4 hours of your life that you are never going to get back

Used to know that feeling well Ian except I was trying to start it as a money maker.
Worst case mates MiL paying customer asked could also look at video and DVD, yep @ $60 per plus I was asked to leave. Computer was only partly done so I walked out the door I'd already been paid for computer work.

Not the Mamma!
Hi all,
my son gave me his old confuser the other day, I say old but of course with technology these days, well it was only a couple of years old and in the world of PC's, that is ancient. Anyway it took me half an hour to find the on button, once I'd figured out how to get past the password login screen, another half an hour. Just cancel the bloody thing! I was in, and found it to be very fast!!! Until I started typing, yes I can type with two fingers now since the injury healed up and I guess I'm the slowest thing about my new PC. Having said that, with what I have I keep it clean and use the system tools supplied. Disc clean up, defrag, etc. Have a good anti virus program, AVG, Avast, Ad-aware, you know the drill.
You know you've gotta get a life when you find yourself watching the defrag
Cheers...Oddjob1

Too late!!! Now my only internet access is via the refrigerator - can I have a kilo of butter and a litre of milk please?.
Speaking of the internet, and this is waaaaaaaaay off topic, but if any of youse chaps or lasses out there are with Optus you might check you monthly quotas .
Mine has just been increased, at no extra charge, from 50 Gig to a whopping 1 Terrabyte!!
I'm off to download the internet.
