It just isn't to my taste.

Now the stingrays, perfectly graceful and would love to be able to make such pieces. I guess a practicuum on the pieces would be giving away the trade secrets huh?

Ray, I must admit I took offence to your original comment. I have re read it in the light of day and I find I was wrong.
I have no problem with you not liking work that is not your taste, I don't like certain styles either. I like to push the technical posibilites of woodturning, and not so much the artistic side.

The stingrays are something new that I am playing with. I wanted to make an identical pair that were hard to measure, no easy point of reference.
    What is practicumm?
I am always willing to explain how I make pieces, with the exception of the pierce turning used in the cariage. This was taught to me by Hans Weisfflog on the condition that I did not teach this style.

If you want help with any of your woodturning, just ask.

The last photo was a Platter by Jack deVos. I don't usualy like pierced and painted peices either, but this is a stunning piece.
I thought that I was in trouble in the platter section when I opened it.

You only won prizes because they were well made. The same reason is why they sold.

Wow I wish I had of made it to this exhibition. The work is superb. I love the detail that has gone into the carriage, the platter looks beautiful but I'm keen to know if the H piece by David Shing was sold?
Also congrats to whoever dressed the overall display with bits of nature like the pebbles - in the photos they make a perfect backdrop to the individual pieces.

David Shing did not offer his piece for sale, he rarely sells any work.
Thanks for the comments on the carriage.
I will pass your congrats on to the guys who did the display.

Thanks Ken, by the way was there a photo of the sting ray? I couldn't see any pictures but thought that sounded really interesting too.
