To all customers in Victoria
To all Ubeaut forum users:
CARBA-TEC® Pty. Ltd. (ABN 84 010 706 242) is no longer affiliated with CARBA-TEC (VIC) Pty. Ltd. (ABN 49 585 226 746) and their license to use the CARBA-TEC® brand and logo has ceased.
CARBA-TEC® Pty. Ltd. (ABN 84 010 706 242) will be establishing a new store in Melbourne as soon as is practicable. In the meantime, customers in the state of Victoria will be given preferential pricing and freight rates from our Brisbane head office to offset any inconvenience.
CARBA-TEC® Pty. Ltd. (ABN 84 010 706 242) is a Brisbane based company. Other CARBA-TEC® stores are independently owned and operated under a license agreement with CARBA-TEC® Brisbane.
There are also a few other points we would like to make:
1) Some machines sold by other suppliers are the same as those that we sell. Many, however, are not the same and we have exclusive arrangements with numerous suppliers. Additionally, with common suppliers we frequently have arrangements for exclusive product features.
2) CARBA-TEC® Pty Ltd has existing warranty and service arrangements in Melbourne.
3) We would like to offer customers in Victoria the following (effective 05/04/05):
- All orders will be sent from our Brisbane warehouse freight-free
- We will offer a 10% discount on all items except already-discounted advertised specials (you'll receive the lower of the two prices). Items already offered at clearance prices are excluded from this discount and will be charged at standard clearance prices.
- We will handle any service or warranty issues within Victoria through our existing Melbourne service agents.
- This offer is valid until a new CARBA-TEC® store is open in Victoria or until further notice.
- Orders must be placed by phone - call our toll free number at 1 800 658 111 to place your order.
- Any Victorian customer who has placed an order since March 24 who has not received a discount equal to the above offer will receive a refund for the difference from us by cheque or credit card refund. We are in the process of reviewing previous order details to arrange any refunds forthcoming. However, if this applies to you and you have not heard from us within the next week, please call us on our toll free order line at 1 800 658 111 and give us your name and invoice reference.
We trust that this arrangement will help alleviate some of the difficulties that Victorian customers are facing in light of present circumstances.

Thanks for keeping us informed.
Hopefully many of the good staff at the Melbourne office will be employed in the new shop.
These staff seemed to be on the receiving end of many angry but justified customers' outbursts even though they had not contributed to the problems. Their professional attitude under such circumstances was commendable, they deserve medals some of them.- Wood Borer

I find myself hoping that the Sydney store hits the skids soon too.
Only joking."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

From reading many posts on this subject, there is a definite school of thought (which may indeed be incorrect) that part of the problems in supply from Carba-Tec Vic, were directly related to the lack of supply from Queensland. Are you in a position to clarify this situation for us ?
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

No, that is categorically incorrect. For legal reasons we will not discuss the specifics. You are free to form your own opinion as to why Melbourne was short of stock, but Carba-Tec Brisbane has not had a stock shortage problem.

Carba-tec,
Thanks for making the effort for getting on here and making your offer. It is most welcome. If you go through old posts, you will see that the greatest number of complaints about Carbatec were relating to the very extended wait that people have had to endure. I myself waited 6 months for a machine that was eventually supplied freight free by yourself (Thanks). I think your offer is very generous, as was Hague Gobby's on behalf of Timbecon and both of you should gain in trade from it.
Might I suggest one thing. Give a time for delivery. If you add a couple of days/a week to the expected delivery time, everone will be happy when it arrives early. It is a very common practice in many industries and keeps customers happy. If you want to know what happens with happy customers, look up the Bessey Clamp post hereabouts.
All the best and welcome to the board. Hope to hear plenty from you in the future.

Congratulations on acknowledging a problem, and going about rectifying it.
I have proven myself to be one of the first to offer criticism of suppliers, when things don't go as well as they should. Let me also offer praise when this is due.
I am aware franchises and similar setups don't always work out, that's life, build a bridge and get over it, you have chosen to do this.
However I do feel a little left out, living in NSW, I will just have to console myself knowing I will receive my share of the "Bessey Order" , of which I am sure you are aware, before any Mexicans.Boring signature time again!

How long have you known about this board?
How long (if at all) have you been a lurker?
The answers don't matter, nore will they influence my good opinion of your store (by hearsay), I'm just curious about the boards penertation in the woodwork industry.Great minds discuss ideas,
average minds discuss events,
small minds discuss people
