Yes you are right , what you call a planer we call a thicknesser.

Remember Noah was called crazy ( probably an ancient word for seppo ) because he didn't live near water either.

    Wecome to the madhouse Glenmore!!

They build and use yatchts in Alice Aprings in the middle of Oz just a few thouand kilometres from the coast. And their rivers usually bone dry too.
So they leave the bottoms out so the crew can hold them up flintstones style and race them in the bed of the dry river.

Maybe you could start a mad sport in your neck of the woods.

    Welcome Glenmore.

Don't worry about the lack of water - a mate of mine is building a cruising yacht in Waldo Mesa, NM. Not a lot of sailing done there, either!

Where is waldo mesa Alex? I grew up in Santa Fe, NM. Is your buddy J. Thomas in cerillos? or are you speaking of the waldo mesa harmonic (read hippie) convergence center in madrid?

Hi Ryan, it's Jim Thomas' brother Richard. We worked together here in the 1960s, then lost contact after he went to Bougainville. Several years later I went there too, but he had moved on. A couple of years ago, through the miracle of the internet, we caught up with each other, and found that as well as both working in the same profession, we were now both into sailing & woodwork.

    Small world.
