My 14 year old son discovered You Tube and would watch/listen to his favourite songs over and over. He totalled up a massive download in terms of Gb, which ran us over our limit. Started to get expensive.

I installed Video Piggy, about $25, and this permits me to copy the You Tube videos and also convert them for use on the PC or iPod. If you are a big You Tube user, you may want to check out this option.

    Regards from Perth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt5uSx3eFYU may not be everyone's idea of music, but it's music to my ears no matter what anyone else says! Starts off a bit too frantic for my taste, but soon settles into a beat that makes me... oooer!

(And you did start this off by classing that Minogue thing as "music." )

I'm sure my toy would have the cheaper running costs.

On a more relevant to topic note... I'm a Pink Floyd type of guy and very, very few video clips can even vaguely approach what I can visualise for myself while sitting in a comfy chair in a darkened room, eyes shut and with influence of choice to hand. Fortunately, I'm not locked into one genre.

Here's a vid clip that I think is worth watching: the Stringfever Quartet's interpretation of Ravel's Bolero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5MLNMgpywk

Not quite as watchable, but still entertaining (for one viewing anyway) is their "History of Music"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG6Ef-NQCi4

And I always enjoy mixing up the new with the old. I can't stand Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" but remix it as a Gregorian Chant and, well... judge for yourself!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z4_4M7BZ64

And has anyone here ever seen Slava Grigoryan live? Brilliant stuff! Enough so, that I bought his CD. I can't say this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVdxcwiZ6XI is a brilliant clip, it's just the Sunday proggy off TV, but it'll give you an idea of what he's about... Move over Tommy Emmanuel!

    (And talking of whom... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7wAEMIAhFs)

Sigh. Can you tell that I'm bored tonight?

Thanks for the tip Derek, I was about to start googling for this sort of stuff.

Does the music quality translate okay?

I posted this you tube link in another thread.
Its a mob called Velvet Revolver (ex- Bums and Noses etc) doing Psycho Killer, they do other covers as well incl. Roadhouse blues but this is the only one they really nail.

Basing this song up sounds great, and for me is an improvement.

You can copy Youtube Vids using YouTube Grabber. You can play them with FLV Player. Both are free on the net.

Quality is the same as you see on YouTube, not great but it's OK. Not good enough to make a DVD or anything though.

you can also download them (as flv files) at youtubex.com.

Just cut and paste the youtube url into the download box on the site and Bob is your mother's brother.

There's also software around to convert flv's to MPG if that's what you want.
