Default Is this felt suitable for honing wheels?

I could get a roll of felt 6' wide and 1/4" thick, which I think is of the type used for sound insulation. It is light brown in color (jute? coir fiber?). Would it be suitable for honing wheels? If so, would you suggest stitching or gluing to achieve a thickness of say 1"?

Haven't used them Frank but they're usually described as hard felt wheels.

The risk of material that's too soft is dubbing over as of course you know.

A mix of glue (hard) and insulating felt (soft) would mean inconsistent density in any case at a guess.
    Cheers, Ern

Thanks Ern, as you say the basics do not seem to be favorable. It was just a topic for discussion in case somebody else had tried. After a month of absence from the shed I needed to talk shop a bit.
