2hp D/C Total Tools vs C/Tec
It looks as though my hints are coming to fruition and I will be receiving a 2HP Dust Collector from the big fat fella in a red suit in a couple of weeks.
I saw a unit at Total Tools today which has the same product no as C/Tec - FM300 - and appears to be identical.
Total Tools claim theirs operates at 1500 cfm vs 1200 cfm and they give a 2 year warranty as it is a better machine.
It is $359 on special (they say about $100 off normal) compared to $299 at C/tec.
Has anyone bought the Total Tools machine or know if they are better quality?Tom

Chesand,
I've also been looking at the FM-300 from C/tec. But for me the clincher was the filter bag rating of 5 micron compared to the 30 micron bag offered with the Sherwood CT-65 or CT-101H.Whale oil beef hooked!

Hi Chesand,
I have the Total Tools 2hp D/C, and it's worked fine for about a year so far.
I don't recall paying c$360 though, more like $270 ~ $280, but I'd have to have a rummage back through the receipts file
Sheesh! There was just the most amazing thunderclap right outside the house, jolly near blew me of my chair:eek:
My only minor gripe with the machine is that putting the bag back on is a job for a six-armed octopus...
Cheers!

Does that mean he's arm deficient?
I found to put the pastic bag on the bottom I ran a run of wide packing duct type tape around the top of the bag. I was real careful, and only ruffled the top a bit, so this meant it is now only a poofteenth smaller than it was originally. I did this with the bag flat on a table. Now when you put it on the machine it sits there of its own accord, whilst you deploy a four armed octopus to put the clamp on.Boring signature time again!

Thanks for feedback
I have been able to find out that the bag on the TT machine is rated at 5 microns and they say the manufacturers rate it as 1500 cfm.
I may subsidise the purchase to get the extra airflow and 2 yr warranty or see if TT will wheel and deal on a price.Tom
