    Default Buying a new Router

I already have a Triton Router and am very very pleased with it - however it is mounted in my router table and I'm sick up n fed with having it set up for a certain job and then having to pull it all out to be able to use it hand held on some other job and then having to put it all back in again and re-set it all up to do the other job etc. At present I have it set up to do some dadoing and don't want to change the settings as I still have some more to do but cannot do them until I have receievd some other items that I have ordered of which I need so I can take some measurements before doing the final lot. (hope this makes sense )
Anyway I am looking to get another router to use hand held etc and keep the Triton permanently set up in the table. I was wondering if anyone could let me know which is a good router to buy but one that is not overly priced. Am after something at least half decent but not gold plated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

We use a half inch Bosch router (hand held) with the students at our school and it works okay. It is also very light and cost less than $200 when we bought it. I also personally have a really cheap quarter inch GMC router which is extremely light and it also works okay provided you take light cuts. I got it for the same reason as you. I got sick of pulling my big router out its table.

I have an Axminster from Carbatec. Plenty of grunt, variable speed, reasonable quality and price.

Default Ended up with a Makita 3612

    Thanks for the replies.

I hunted around in a few cattledogs and online stores also and asked a few questions from some others in the know and decided to go with either the Makita 3612 or Hitachi TR12.
Went to Bunnies this morning and the Makita was $3.00 dearer than Toolies so got a price match and ended up getting it for $310 which I am very happy with.

Now to get some template guides and I'm set.

    Thanks again to all
