CARBA-TEC Melbourne
Well, I was one of the unlucky ones who had put some money down on a machine in the Melbourne <ST1</ST1store. And I guess its common knowledge they're in some financial difficulty. As it stands for me at the moment the head office in QLD is under no obligation to help solve the situation. They were courteous and polite about the no win situation for everyone concerned. But at the end of the day I have to sit back and see how kind the receivers are going to be if at all. As by sheer fluke I was at the store the day the receivers were replacing the locks on the door to pick up my machine. At this point in time I can do little but wait. I will keep you posted as to how the receivers view the situation and the head office in QLD.<O</O

do a search on carbatec in here and read the last week's messages where people have expressed their concerns over your situation, and others like you who may be up the creek. Hope it comes out your way though. Good luck.

Sinjin, there have been some developments in regard to the receiver, I'm sending you a pm.

Sounds OK but I am sure their margin is not small, I tend to get a bit cynical about retailers who plead poverty.

I too was in a similar situation to Sturdee but got mine freight free into metro Melbourne. I feel like an expectant father again!

Carb bayswater
Well guys its Friday morning 1st of April. Last night i rang Carb after some notice from Sturdee. And its all sorted and i even upgraded to the 20" thicknesser instead of the 15". However my partner rang me this morning at work saying my machine can't be delivered for 4 weeks. With the blood pressure rising rapidily and quite some expletives which i must say i was very proud of. She then tells me its April fools day.....i was never fooled of cause.
Anyway, Paul from Bayswater has organised delivery today. Hope for everyone concerned it all goes well for the future.

PS latest news the thicknesser arrived! So i have a 8' buzzer and a 20" thicknesser......so now what do i do..Last edited by sinjin1111; 1st April 2005 at 11:08 PM.

sinjin,
From your comment "it's all sorted" are you inferring that Carba-Tec Melbourne is back in business?Jim Grant

Jim, dont get too excited... I think you will find that sinjin1111 has just managed to swing a deal with XXXXX-XXX to get his new toys now....
I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

Thought it might be too good to be true! I've made enquiries to Carba-Tec WA to see what they can do to fill my order. At least I got an instant rerply from Geoff over there. That's always a good start.

Paul and his staff are back in business and will trade under a new entity ( haven't heard what they will call themselves but not CT ) selling woodworking equipment when they can get their own direct lines of supply organized.
