Default Chainsaw help - it just stopped running

A friend has a 2 stroke chainsaw (possibly Chinese) that was running fine for years then just stopped. I was asked if I could have a look at it. I pulled the plug and found there is no spark. I replaced the plug and still no spark. I had a local company test the coil and they said it worked great. I checked the switch with my multimeter and it also seemed to be working fine. The magnet on the flywheel is clean.

Any ideas what would make it just stop sparking given the coil is fine?

Note: I took it to the local chainsaw place, who promptly told me without looking at it, that it was not worth repairing. Whilst that might be true, the friend wanted me to see what I could do. I am willing to invest some time to see if I can get it firing again.

Q1 what make/model is the CS?

Q2 Does it have a capacitor?
If so coii might be OK but if it uses a cap it could be dead.

Q3 did you check for continuity?
Spark plug lead could be broken or shorting out B4 it gets to the plug

Q4 Where in Oz are you
Someone local maybe able to help

Q5 When you mean switch I assume you mean the kill switch?
    That could be shorted somewhere.

No idea. It has all the stickers rubbed off the casing from years of use. I figure it must be Chinese - but unfortunately I cannot find any make or model on it. It has been well used..

I could not spot one. Would it be near the coil or hidden away?

Yes, the kill switch. I have checked it with the multimeter and appears to be functioning. I might have to rip it out and check the connections and wiring. It is a bit tough to get at as one of the screws is spinning in the plastic cover. So removing the plastic to get to it is certainly going to be a challenge.

    Thanks for the help Bob.

Once upon a time I did a stupid thing... not thinking I filled the chainsaw (Jonsered) with straight petrol, it ran for a few minutes and then stopped (never to run again), I then realised what I'd done. One half of the bore/piston was scored to buggery thus becoming useless.
