Well I guess I'm discovering that there is no such thing as a 16mm melamine.

Obviously my 16mm router bit was closer to 17mm because my dado's always fitted.

I'm not too fused with the brass shims they seem to get all messed up.

So I'm thinking that see most of the mdf and melamine board i'm using is about 16.4 mm thick that I might try another tack.

I might aim for a 17mm dado. I was think of using the two outside blades, 3 x 1/8" chippers and a cd as a central shim.

The cd is 1.2mm thick. It has a 15mm hole, which I will drill out to about 16mm to fit my 5/8" arbour.

Is this doable? Is a 17mm dado more realistic for 16mm stock?
