GMC Platinum Compressor
Simple question, shifty link hardware have the belt drive unit on sale for $399, any opinions on these as I would like to upgrade my direct drive screamer (which has developed a leak in the tank).
Edit:
From cattledog....3hp 50 litre--9cfm free air delivery--13 cfm pump displacement.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

I've been using the (non platinum) 40L and 24L air compressors for a couple of years now. Haven't done anything to look after them - and have used them to blow a lot of dust, fill car tyres, power a pneumatic socket driver, a brad gun, and a framing nailer. Have never had a problem.

Before everyone else tells you to buy a 50 brazillion horsepower, 16 cyclone cfm. I'd say get it.
Cheap as chips, wear the bugger out and buy a new one in 5 years.Boring signature time again!

I've got the little 24L job which I have hammered and still cant kill. For $99 I didn't expect too much but I think it's been 3 years now and its still going.
Just another thing, listen to the compressor working first because not all belt drives are quiet. If its still a screamer put it in a box or buy the little one and do the same.

I have a small one but like I said, there is a leak in the tank where the handle has been welded on.
Cheaper to buy a new one rather than repair the leaky one, says a lot for the thickness of the tank though.
The old one is not a GMC and I have had it for about 6 years now.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Sounds like it will fit the bill nicely.
But a REAL man would buy a 50 brazillion hp one

A real man would have tried to weld up the existing one, and perhaps been the latest entry in the Darwin Awards!

Like a few others here, I've got the ordinary blue little direct-drive 24l job. It cost $99, I think, a couple of years ago. The thing just goes on and on. Makes a fair racket though - but this is a good thing as it gives my neighbours time to close their windows before I start spraying
