Hasn't been used for 39 years and still works
I recently got my hands on one of my fathers blow lamps, the last time it was used was 39 years ago when I wanted to do some soldering. A bit of elbow grease to clean it up and new cap and pump washers and it fired up first go
Ahh the smell of burnt Kerosene and the roar of the flame why don't they make tools like that any more

Looks really good
- hope you are not going to let the gnome in the background get away with the "mooning"
- turn the torch and give him a dose of heat for the seat.

Looks great Phil, did you only use soapy steel wool?
I recall there was a thread recently asking the best method, and I have to say that one works pretty well from the results in the photo!
Cheers,
P

Funny that I was thinking about that today as I fondled my Turner 41/2. That plane was made in Australia and the factory at its height employed over 1000 people same with Pope, Stanley and many others. my blow torch was also made in Australia also.
As I fondled the Turner I thought about this and all the lost jobs, the lack of trades people and what has happened.
I try to give consumerism a go but some how I think that it is all in vain, we are only helping the Chinese economy. Those politicians that say we live in the lucky country have gotten it all wrong I find more and more that we are really living in a fools paradise.
I am depressed now thinking about such deep matters, I will have to go and polish the blow torch again, to remind me of a time when Australia may have had a future.
Think that I just hijacked my own thread?

You're a sick man Phil. Polishing your blow torch and fondling your hand planes.... I love it. Beautiful torch BTW, even better that it was your Dad's eh?
