Makita 8mm Router Opinions
Does anyone have any experience with this router, Makita 8mm (3/8") Plunge Router #RP0900X1 I am thinking of purchasing one to use as a dedicated router for my Leigh jig assuming I cannot get satisfactory 8mm bit holding with my MOF001.

If it is an 8mm router, it can't be a 3/8" router and vice versa. Last I looked 3/8" was 9.5mm and 8mm was 5/16".

I am fairly sure it is an 8mm router. I haven't heard of 9.5mm router bits! I put it down to an error in the title on the site that the link refers to.

I have the previous model to that one. Yes it's 8mm. It should come with a 1/4" cone so you can use 1/4" shaft router bits. Never had any issues with mine in using 1/4" bits.

I have an old makita that takes 1/4'' and can take something a bit larger perhaps 5/16'' or 3/8''. Not sure as I have only ever seen 1/4'' and 1/2'' bits so have only used 1/4'' bits in it.
It is a good router and done good service these last 15 or so years.
Regards
John

I have this router and it comes with both 3/8 and 1/4" collets. Its a very good router but the plunger often gets clogged making it jerky when setting routing depth...
