Makita M5900B2 Circular Saw
Hi All,
This is my first post after having found this site a couple of weeks ago. Have been reading a number of the postings and have picked up a number of new tips - thanks to all contributors.
I'm in the market for a circular saw and have seen at Bunnings - a Makita M5900B-2 for $299. It comes with two 230 mm 40 tooth blades.
I was wondering if anyone has had an experience this saw. Is the motor powerful enough - its a 1750W, compared to the 2400W Triton saw.
Any words of advise would be appreciated !
Cheers,
Leon

This saw is the housing and construction industry standard workhorse, thousands of them have been sold in Australia. If you want a gutsy saw for general work then it's more than adequate and it will definitely outlast any hobbyist. If, however you plan on doing more exacting work then go for a saw with an alloy base plate like the 5902B or the Hitachi C9 as the metal base plates tend to get a bit bent afteer a while and this makes accurate cuts impossible. If you are thinking of getting a Triton bench in the future then their saw is going to make life a lot easier in regards to adjusting for accuracy.

I was wondering what the difference was between the Makita and the Triton - this is my first circular saw, so still learning !
I do intend to use it for furniture, so an alloy or cast base would be what I'm after. Thanks for the tip !
