    Default Yet another ml392 question

Hi, I’m new to this forum (which by the way I found while searching for info about the ml 392 thicknesser). And I think I’ve read most of the ml 392 related posts, yet I have one question. I’ve found two versions here in Sweden sold under different names by different companies but they are both ml392 I believe. The only difference I can se by looking at the specification is the motor size, one has a 1.5 hp 230V motor while the other sports a 3hp 400V motor.
    <o =""></o>
Does the 1.5hp version feel under motorized? I intend to mainly run 4-5m long full width boards (of fairly soft wood) through the machine.
    <o =""></o>

Are there other versions available?<o =""></o>

It doesn't feel like it's struggling at all but if you have a choice, why not go for the larger one. particularly with the wide boards in mind.

How's ABBA these days by the way ?? I loved the blonde one......
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

I just wanted to know that there aren’t any other differences that I should look out for. The 3hp version is actually cheaper so unless there is some other reason to avoid that particular version I will definitely go with that one.

ABBA is just fine, well the group doesn’t exist but otherwise they are ok, and no we aren’t all blond.

    Leif,
the 3HP model is 3 phase so unless you have 3 phase outlets you are in for extra expense to get them wired in. In the long run 3 phase is great because you have a larger range of machinery to choose from and you can often pick up a bargain 2nd hand industrial machine. There is a bit of expense involved in wiring up for three phase, especially if you don't already have three phases connected to your house/workshop.

Thanks for the warning but it’s not a problem as I already have 400V 3phase available.

I found another thicknesser that seems to be identical to the ml392 except that it is 310mm wide and have a 4 blade cutter. Seems ideal for my needs, don’t know the price for it yet though (it’s probably to expensive).

Look at the picture here and tell me if it doesn’t look extremely similar to the low-cost ml392.

That looks very similar Leif. I wonder if they've used the correct photo.

I’ve now found the same 310mm wide machine at a couple of other resellers too (only the paint scheme differs) and the price was… 2.5 times the 250mm version.

Ah well, that’s too much for me. The search continues.
