More Great Service
I'm not sure if this is in the correct forum but what the heck...
I am currently putting locking castors under a couple of pieces of machinery and browsed the shelves at my local large hardware store for somthing I could use. Close but not perfect set for around $38.00 each and of course only three left and I wanted eight.
A quick search of the yellow pages sent me to Fallshaw Wheels and Castors who were happy to talk me through my requirements and quoted for a similar set at $16.32 each. As I tried to give the voice at the other end of the phone my credit card number, he asked where I was calling from and declined the sale, politely asking me to use their local agent (Maroochy Bearings).
1pm yesterday, I dropped in on said company, who were embarrassed that they did not have the exact item in stock, GAVE me a similar wheel to try, ordered the model I asked for anyway, apologised and said they would DELIVER to my workplace first thing this morning.
Now all we need to do is start a WWW catalogue project to put all of the good guys on an index somewhere!

I'm off to find more things to put wheels under!

Regarding Normal Swivel Castors I purchased some 50mm ones from Bunnings for about $7.95 each because they wanted about $12.00 each for locking ones.
I ended up at Supercheap Autos where they keep 50mm Locking Swivel Castors for $1.95 each. the only problem is that the never have eneough stock so you have to keep going back to get eneough to complete a project.
They also keep the larger ones at comparable prices.
They are not as good a quality as the Fallshaws but at those prices you can afford to throw them away if the fail but I think they are ok.
The also keep fixed Castors as well as the Swivel Castors.

Supercheap amazes me, I find myself wondering around the place on regular occasions and rarely coming out without something. For example I picked up a 500 watt hammer drill the other day for $16 and an angle grinder for $9.99 and a 4 gang extension block for $2.50.
I can’t see how they make a quid at those prices, sure the quality isn’t great but as long as it works long enough to do a few jobs it owes you nothing.

Just to clarify, the castors I bought were for a particular purpose, and weren't bottom of the range by any means, needing to be locked in both directions (swivel and wheel) - hence the Bunnies (there I've said it!) $38.00 each. Supercheap had no equvalent.you can afford to throw them away if the fail
When they are supporting more than a thousand dollars worth of machinery with spinning blades, I am wary of whatelse may have to be thrown away, and have to figure my fingers are worth the extra dough!
On the other hand I do have a supply of real cheapies rescued from a pile of broken office chairs for when they are appropriate!
