    Default Sturdee's Pick a Part

As part of my ongoing project to improve and extend our storage space I excavated more under the house to make access easier to the back of the workshop area.

I then built a timber storage platform of 3500*1200mm, half of which is to store unused (but not allowed to throw out) furniture and the rest is for my own "Old Tools Pick a Part". Like old cars old tools never die they are just waiting for their parts to be recycled.

The photos are from left to right of my private recycling yard.

    Peter.

    Peter.
I've been there. It's like a black hole for woodworking equipment. Not even light can escape

People ask me all the time where they can get parts for Mk3 Workcentres, can I give them your name?

    Default Me too

My workshop is situated under the house as well Sturdee, so like you I have extended & utilised as much of this valuable area as I can - without having to replace the brick piers with timber props (yikes!). I haven't got around to putting a light in the sub-floor space though......

BTW, does Triton stuff classify as "real tools"?

They're not timber props that you see, they are the original timber stumps that the house was built on. Been there at least 50 years and, just like Johnie Walker ads, still going strong.

I won't go into whether Triton tools are real tools except to say that for a long, long time they suited my needs admirably.

    Default Me too - again

Well done Peter. Many older places had timber posts or stumps as floor frame supports, and the "Queenslanders" took that concept to a whole new level. In fact a few entepreneurs have set up specialty businesses "re-stumping" houses where the offending timbers have either rotted or sunk a little over the years. Good to see yours are still intact and sound.

So far as the Triton stuff is concerned, my Triton router stand gets a workout fairly regularly so I hope you didn't take that dig too personally. I think Triton gear is a good low-level alternative until you're ready or able to upgrade to the more industrial equipment - if indeed you aspire to that.

Oh how I wish I could travel back in time and show those pictures to you 4 years ago!!

Good on ya Peter, I never throw anything out either. I'll post a picture from under my house one day. It's only been there for just under 12 months but you should see it!!
