What use is a turnscrew?
Hey guys.
I recently got given a heap of old tools - most of them I'm trying to give away (see 'Buy, Sell or Swap').
Among them were some old turnscrews. The blades are okay, but the handles are shot to pieces.
Is there anything an old turnscrew will do that a screwdriver won't? Or is this simply a piece of nostalgia? If so, I'll chuck 'em in with the other freebie tools. One of them is a Marples.
Cheers,

No but the handles ars a lot easer to grip than the plastic things you get these days.

Agreed. But I already have a nice set of Crescents with 3-sided rubberised and tapered handles which are about the most comfortable screwdrivers you'll ever use (IMHO).

I believe that the older style turnscrews had parallel blade sides so that they didn't slip in the brass screws' slots - unlike most modern screwdrivers that have angled faces.
If all they need are some handles, why not get hold of some Beech or Hornbeam, and make some up?
