Cool What type of horizontal borer to get

I am thinking about buying a horizontal borer, as I work with longer stock.

It's to hard to get dowel hole straight by hand or with smaller jigs.

Any ideas on what to look at?

    I was hoping to spend @ $500 - $800 on it.

    Pappy
I have no idea of the quality of the first Leda machine but a slot mortiser is more useful and can be used as a double stop borer. The quality or not will be in the table action .

    Thanks gents for the advice.

I ended up buying a horizontal borer from Caratec as they were on special on thier web site.

It seems a very sturdy bit of gear. I went to use it on the weekend and after a bit of swearing realised it has a left hand rotation. This is a problem on the weekend as I was unable to use any of my drill or router bits.

I had a very interesting phone conversation with a staff member from carbatec, which almost ended in tears as they were unable to supply a bit for me.

I was able to get a left hand dowel bit off the shelf from Alltools in Thomastown.
