saw weights
I have been checking out some cabinet saws and found some interesting discrepancies in the weights recorded in a couple of catalogues.
In the Hare and Forbes 2002 cat., p.66 the ST-12H is given as 148kg in the features list, and 400kg in the specification list. In the 2003 woodworking cat p.5 from the same company a saw that appears to be the same and has the same model number has a weight of 185kg in the spec. list. Are these just typographical errors or are we dealing with different machines here, or variations of the same machine? If weight is a crude indicator of construction quality, it would be good to know what the correct weight of the saw is.
Similarly with the 2002 Timbecon cat. P.23, TSC-12-HK is 170kg; by 2003 (p.33) its weight is 215kg. Again, would these be saws that are sourced differently, or merely careless catalogue production?
Cheers.

I would've thought the published weights would be fairly accurate as they are used to calculate freight costs. The differences might to some extent reflect the weight of packaging/crates. Dunno, just an idea.

Thats a lot of packing from H&F in 2002! 252 KG! More freight on packing than freight on the saw itself!
Nah, they just had a printing stuff up.
They've been selling the same saws for years.
