Logs of any sort have to be carried on steel bolsters securely restrained by straps or chains by law, countless people have been killed by logs hitting in oncoming cars. Roads & traffic are the ones that enforce it.

i think you will find wooden bolsters are also acceptable in qld.
or they were last tiem i checked.
