    Default A little Coomera Job

Hey so I thought it was about time to share some of my pics, been working the mill full time the past 6 months after the breakup, had no reason not to get off my backside and get some sawdust in my system

So the first two pics are the log dump next to the mill. It took a bit of time to get these sorted and stacked as the tree's where dropped all round the yard.

I borrowed Weisyboys offsider, Sam for a couple of days to help out with tailing and also there was a heap of firewood cutting to do from the dropped ironbarks.

Some really nice bluegum to slice up on this job, next pic shows the remaining logs on the second day. First bunch of logs had joists, some bearers, large posts and 38mm various width boards from them.

(Eli if you look close you can see how my log supports work)

Just for a bit of scale I chucked my esky in to show the size of the last two logs.

These last two logs where nice little monsters both 3.1m long and both around 850mm diameter (so around 1.75 cubic metres each and about 1800kg) both of them where rolled into the mill by Iron bar and cant hook, but I did have to get a bobcat to put them up in the dump for me - not a bad machine, picked one of them up in it's bucket, then other was a bad shape and he rolled it up hill by getting close to it and opening up the bucket to 'push' it along.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Well not sure what the size was, but it was bobcat brand and was a fella that the customer hired to do stuff, so he operated his bobcat as a business, given that I'd expect it would be a fairly large thing. When I say picked up he had it something like an inch off the ground, but at least he managed to get it off the ground and just drive with it. I was talking to Carl about his bobcat and what it could do (763 or something comes to mind regarding it's size) he's mentioned picking up some big sizes with it. I'm thinking of adding a bobcat type machine to my arsenal to help get jobs done and also let me take on other jobs I might not ordinarily have managed.

You might like to consider the Manitou type loader/forklift. Not sure of the price comparison with the skid steer loaders. They are more of a rough terrain vehicle, which might suit.

Very tidy load of logs. Where do you market the timber. Existing customers etc?
