Once again - Lucas Mills are great...
Yeah I know, anyone would think I worked for them... but I don't.
Isn't it great when the day just seems to keep going wrong and wronger, then something about milling with your Lucas makes you really excited to go back and keep going the next day? Well I'm set to be back at dawn to get into this...
This is how much space I had at one end...
and look closely - there was space, albeit it a small amount of space, at the other end too...
Some of you might be saying yeah, ok, not really special...now bearing in mind I have my 6m standard rails and the 2m extension kit on too...
She's 7.7m long (the longest I've rolled in to date) not sure of volume/mass but it will make some very handy bearers and veranda beams for our new front deck.
It's all lined up ready to go first thing in the morning, I did a bit of tenderising to a couple of knuckles, but I got it into the mill on my own, with no hydraulic/machinery assistance - only using my iron bar and my home made can't hook.
Have I mentioned I love milling and it's even sweeter with a LucasI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Melissa -firstly welcome.
It depends on the size, you can pay as much as $18,000 for their new 10-30 or as little as $9,500 for their 6-14.
Second hand is a lot to do with the seller, but they have a rather high re-sale price and more often than not they are rare as rocking horse poo, so you have to be in the right place at the right time too. I know of a 6-7 year old mill, superseded 4 times, by bigger models that is selling for half current (not original) purchase price of the equivalent modelI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

I live down in the bayside area, what a great place. I'm 18, love anything out doors and I just bought a 6 - 18. I had been researching mills for a while but went to the timber and woodworking show and decided to splurge out and just buy one. I havn't actuallyt got the pics yet as I am getting the mill in early july, gotto clean up the paddock first, but i'll definetly put photos up once i start making sawdust.

Good onya Mully, let us know if you need any help with any of it. I've got the 6-18, I think it's a fantastic machine I'd only say keep an eye on your muffler, but that'll depend on how much use she gets.
Post a pic when you get her homeI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
