    I agree Bob, wholeheartedly.

Mind you Jake, what marketing budget do you need? folks sign up for it with you guys, you line them up from one part of the country to the other, say 2 weeks each (or whatever) then you guys get it to the first chap, the second chap has to get it from the first guy and so on, any fuel used is the users responsibility, blade maintenance is users responsibility, repairs/damage is users responsibility, faults if any are your responsibility. Feedback from every user is compulsory as part of the usage agreement.

Total outlay to you - making the machine,(which ya doin anyway) sending it to first user, picking it up from last user, but if she's as good as stated - one user will definitely buy it, if not more.

So you have gained masses of invaluable field based feedback from many different users and sold the machine to boot....

Sounds great to me, but having said all this, I'm totally happy with my Lucas
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

I agree totally Al, and as a machinery salesman I can say that this approach works, and works well. We recently had a machine which we had taken around to all of the field days and such and got very limited interest in. A few months ago I started taking one around doing on farm demos letting the farmers use it to do a whole paddock or 2 and the machine is now walking out the door, we can't keep enough of them in stock, And as Al said we now have gained invaluable amounts of knowledge about the machine and how we can adjust it to suit everyones needs.

There is also the fact that we all know of someone who has been burned by "manufacturers" who say that their machine is the ducks nuts only to find out that they have been the victim of yet another overpriced lemon. Videos and pictures show a little, demo days show a little more, But honestly before I buy a mill I want to be able to get my hands on the thing and drive it. after all who goes to the car yard and buys a car before they have driven it? For all we know it could be the next ECO-SAW, which has now gone the way of the dinosaurs.

This is a shame really, when they were manufactured as Lewis Saw, they were a very good product, the move to making them out of stainless IMHO was a move in the wrong direction.

    Hi Sigidi,

All sounds great, thats cool your wrapped with the Lucas.

Due to the unlawful injunction that was placed on us. We have been able to find time to really develop our machine. Truth is the prototype has been rebuilt probably 3 times over now. We've been through that learning curve your talking about. The saw has been setup in a commercial situation locally and also has done numerous on site milling jobs with Carl.

If you have a look at some of our web pictures you'll see some very large piles of sticks. This has all been cut by my father while working alone on this machine. He's 64 years old! I think Carl diserves to be ranked among the "real millers" statement as posted earlier.

This was Carl's primary income while being put through illegal injunctive restraints.

In other words the saw has been put through the tests already. We've found weakness and fixed them. The two years of court litigation has given us valuable testing time.

NZ Fieldays is our big release. Would definately like to get a saw over to Aus. Preferably through an agent though.

    Jake.

had a chat with carl today.

seams like they have a good machine answered all the questions i could remember to ask.

when i remember the rest of my questions ill contact him again.

would be very interested in seeing one in operation now. especialy with the thin kerf blade and counter saw. sounds like the perfect bit of gear for cutting flooring.

only problem im having is not being able to see one in operation. if i saw one working and they are as good as they sound then i would have one tomorow.

weisy, after hearing about some of the things you do, flying would be probably the safest thing you could ever do.

A good idea is to sit at the back of the plane, I have never heard of one flying backwards into a mountain yet.
