    Default Bunbury timber auction

Here is a poster I received in the mail advertising a timber auction in Bunbury WA on May 24th.
I have had to reduce the file size to get it on here and hope you can read it. It legible when I blow it up to 200%
I won't be there, unfortunately. I head to the USA in a few days.

    John.
I went to an auction in Denmark, just west of Albany, in January. Djarilmari getting rid of excess stock. Everything went for top dollar and I walked away with nothing at all.
I suspect that the one advertised will be bigger and is, in part, a closing down sale. If that is the case then you may get some bargains.
Good luck. I won't be here to read any gloats you may post, and that is a good thing.
    Robert.

    Thanks .

Do you have a fetish to see grown men cry.

I have the url to this site and might, on an idle, rainy day, look in to see how all the people who aren't on vacation are behaving. I might even post a picture to show you that I am enjoying myself.

On the other hand ..... I might not.

    Robert.

Yeah Baz,I'll take a hankie...I'll look to see whats there first, but for you unfortunate East Coasters Snotty Gobble is a nice piece to turn which has varying hues thru it some not unlike Purpleheart.Spindly growing and plenty of it but never to much greater diameters than 75mm.
I had some set aside down the back of my property but the white ants preferred to picnic on before I had a chance to use it.

John Im hoping to convince the lovely perserverer of my weird tangents the lovely possompoop to allow me the weekend off from the never ending sporting events for the hyperactive hoons so I can take off down there for it!

Im more interested in getting an idea of how much these Tuart stacks are worth than getting anymore timber... although I could be seriously tempted by some fine Sheoak English Oak and Spotted Gum and would have some trouble not bidding on some Marri or Wandoo... not having seen snotty gobble only experienced it via hoons I will see what it is afore any further comments!

If I make it... Keep yer eye open for the wee white Lancer with the old phart with the white hat on his noggin in it! could have a good ol fashioned chin wag while we decide on which timber to buy!

Oh Robert? Have a great time!!

    Yeah OK Shane.
Have you thought of talking to the Auctioneers and the sellers down there with the cubic capacity of your stacks to garner an idea?
They should then give you an idea of a reserve per stack size.

And as far as the Banksia they have I'd be interested in what it goes for.I have just cut up a 2'6" wide banksia that came down in last weeks wild weather and tho perfectly OK it has been consigned to the woodpile for firewood.
    Cheers

    Thanks Jonno
Mate I hadnt considered asking the auctioneers what my stacks would be worth... must do some serious measureing.

The banksia would be a good wood I would have thought... but then when it comes to wood I have trouble throwing anything out!... I even raided the firewood for some peices of Jarrah to make a 20" ships wheel that Ive been playing around with Im now thinking of using some Tuart for the spacers should be a good combination of colors.

I am zipping down tomorrow am to have a gander around to get an idea of what is down there... to say nothing of finding my way to the thing!!... dont want to miss being in on item 5... the snotty gobble!! Just have to have a look at that stuff!

    Default Lotsa good stuff

Went up to the Auction today and boy 'o boy was there some nice stuff there....timber I mean.
You name it they woulda near had it...and cheap by auction sales that I can compare in this region.Wished I had more storage space at home.

Managed to part with over a grands worth of serious earnin's..but definately came away satisfied.
Met Shane(Wild Dingo & family)who looked happy with his purchase of Woody Pear I think...of course he'll have some timber which will have some character to it and it should offer up a range of choices for placement.

Got some Sheok in size 3100x240-400x40 will need resawing,
    Pack/Jarrah slabs 2700x400x50
    Pack/sheoak slabs 1800x350x40
    Pack/Jarrah boards 2500x160x40
    Pack/Jarrah boards 2100x200x25

Some will require further stabilising so I intend to dress it out tomorrow before find some space to store it.
In all seriousness this has been one of the better timber auctions I have been to in this area purely and simply for the range and the quality available. Of course the cost was paramount which was why I spent as much as I did moreover with the view that Sheoak in tht size is becoming scarce and that Jarrah bought today will be of some value in the future.

    Cheers

Johnno, obviously you won't have enough room to store all that loverly timber so it would be best if you sent some over to me for safe keeping.

WOW!! Hey your flamin fast on the draw there John!

Actually I managed to get some really nice sheoak... 7 really nice peices {out of one log} x 390 x 40 x 3700 and mighty fine it be to!

I must admit to not bein quite up to scratch with these auctioneer fellas and paid a little more than I intended but still well below cost elsewhere... I didnt spend quite as much as your good self so the missus was rather happy when I arrived back having spent less than 1/4 what she expected me to! Shes claimed the sheoak for a table top... damn! I had other vision for it to!!

man that auctioneer yammered fast! I was totally not with it when they got to the Rose gum... but wasnt that Marri outside beautiful?!

The price of the Tuart disappointed me somewhat people going for the Blackbutt in preferrence... never mind eh? can find uses for it I guess!!

Actually as I said today mate that Banksia suprised me.

But all up a pretty good day was had... will definantly visit that mill again!

Nice to meet up mate! If your ever in need of some Tuart give me a hoi... mates rates or do a swap?! HA!

Baz, I'll keep an eye on it in the meantime suggest you talk to John Hambly for his views on Sheoak!

Shane, good luck with the Sheoak ...nice pick up by all accounts.I dont think too many would have gone away disappointed with their lot.

This auctioneers pretty good when he gets to know what you're after, he's eyeballin' you as if to dare you to let loose the $$$$$$ but more than that he knows his way round timber.

I'm satisfied to say the least..spent more than I intended but what the hell 'Er In doors will get that new headboard outta them Jarrah Slabs which are pretty near dry.

Took two trips but I got it all done Saturday arvo ...the bus was loaded both trips and woulda given the constabulary a bloody blue fit hadda they a seen me ...ah but I know them back routes!
All trimmed & stacked bar the Jarrah boards which have been dimensioned to 20mm ...now if I can squeeze them in there ???

    Cheers
