Canadian rock maple, ex bowling lanes
Hey all
a little while back, i scored a few recycled bowling lanes that i was gonna use around the house for a table top and some bench tops.
That project is a little while away, but the current job im looking at doing is a new entry door. I was sourcing some recycled wharf boards to make up as a door, but costing this is proving to be an expensive task.
Any how... my question is to everyone is; does anyone know the durability of canadian rock maple? i cant seem to find much on the net about it all. I know its extremely hard, but not sure how it would go outside. It wouldnt be in full weather, but would be getting a bit of sun and im sure a splash of rain here and there.
What is everyones thoughts on the durability of canadian rock maple.
Thanks all.
Daniel

hi Daniel
the Australian Timber Buyers Guide says...
The wood is moderately stable in service, but the heartwood is not sufficiently durable for external use.regards from Alberta, Canada
