Timber ID please - a type of cedar?
Hello,
Trying to identify this timber. One side is stained, the other raw. Was previously used as a bathroom cabinet. It is very light in weight, so I suspect a cedar of some variety. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Possibly "pencil cedar" / "red silkwood" - Black Bean (brittontimbers.com.au)
(Yeah, I know the link appears to be to the wrong species but trust me - can't explain what others do on their websites.)Mobyturns

I used to be reasonably familiar with pencil cedar out of PNG, also of the Palaquium spp, and am a little suspicious of the hardness janka quoted by Brittons - my guess is that for PNG pencil cedar it would be closer to 2 kN than 5 kN.
My memories are of less pinkness in PC, but that may be a photographic quirk.
