    Exclamation Jarrah Slab

Today I got given to me a by a mate a Jarrah slab some 5'6"x3'6"x2"(1650x1050mmx50)and it is dry and ready to use.
My question to you folk out there in forum land is what would be my best option for it?

I mean as a turner I can see alot of bowls and platters in it as part of it has some curly Jarrah in it but,it does have a small crack at one end running in from the end for a distance of about 300mm.

I know I could probably make a table out of it but at this point I have no need for a table so I guess I could store it until someone wants a waney edged table,

It would seem a shame to have to cut it up as it has some lovely grain in it,but I don't want it sitting around for ever and as I have an option on a second slab this time costing me(I don't mind that)I need to be able to put these slabs to good use not having done any work with slabs previously!!

    Cheers and TIA

Hmmmm..... Not quite big enough to split down for fence posts. Bowls would he a waste of wood. Tooth picks? Now come on Shane, lets be a little realistic here.

There are approx. 4,368 pen blanks in that piece of timber, give or take a hundred or so. Lets say 4,000 @ 20cents each thats $800. What the hell are you waiting for. Flood the market. Become the pen blank king of WA.

    Cheers - Neil

    Thumbs up

Or make $1600.00 by cutting the pen blanks in half and sell them as key ring blanks for the same price.
Drill them out and sell the sawdust in little bags to the visitors at the olympics as genuine WA Jarrah for an additional 50cents each and you could seriously consider retirement.

    Cool

Or consequently, just send it to me and you won't have a problem any more! It'll be my problem and I would be happy to lift the burden from you.
