Looking for Recovered Merbau or Jarra
Hi all,
Finally got my tax refund and want to top-up my stock pile of hardwoods.
If you hear of anyone wanting to get rid of some could you please let me know?
I'll be sure to let you know when I have satisfied my needs by updating this thread.
Thanks all,
Barry G. Sumpter

P.S. Thanks for the reminder doors
I'm looking for outdoor project wood.
In plank form
1/4" rough or recovered DAR - 6" wide x 1 or 2 meters long
1/2" rough or recovered DAR - 6" wide x 1 or 2 meters long
$17+ per meter is criminal
just paid $35 at my local for 2meters of vic ash.
(I feel the light color or vic ash really set off the dark or Merbau)
Would be interested to see if anyone wants to go in together for one of the large pallets. Like the ones at Budget Timber in Dandenong. (unless of course, someone could advise me otherwise)

Thanks for the quick reply gentlemen!
Hi doorstop, Stinkie, and John,
All steadfast contributors to the best woodworking forums in the world!
Thanks for the welcome back.
I've been on a self imposed exile over the last 9 months.
Just could not pick up a piece of wood or plug in a power tool without severe depression and plenty of other not so cool thoughts setting in.
However, I've just finished a couple of projects which have purged me of my ill will.
And I hope to return to being a more positive and better contributor. Thanks,
Barry G. Sumpter

Budget Timber in Dandenong
My Bad.
Went here and found it was the same place run by the same people I complained about a few years ago. Where they only sold by the pallet.
no checks, no credit cards, no delivery, no discussion, no help, no service.
no, no, no ...
Got home, remembered my resolution to be a better woodworker
rang to ask for price on a pallet. Maybe I could buy with a group or sell some leftovers on ebay etc...
"No prices over the phone."
OK. My Bad.
No problem. No custom.
The NEXT time I mistakenly mention this crowd, could some one 4x2 me accross the head?
Just had a flash, perhaps they are only looking to service current 'no questions asked clients' or someone who rocks up with a flat bed with a roll of cash. Thanks,
Barry G. Sumpter

Yeah shiver-me have supplied various companies I consult to....they're ok to deal with..... the most knowledgeable chap I have come across for reclaimed is Dave Hutchens - perhaps not the cheapest (though still good prices I feel), but honest and willing to spend time with people who seek an exchange of values and not just cash. Dave owns Urban Salvage in Spotswood and can be reached on 03 - 93910466
