    Default Newly felled blackwood

    Hi all,

I'm a newbie to all things woodworking but keen to know more, just about to get a blackwood tree in the backyard felled (it's splitting down the middle), and wondering what I should do with it in the short term? The main branches are less than a foot in diameter, very slightly curved, and lots of smaller branches.

Should I store it in log form for a while, or get it sawn straight away? Is it saleable, and if yes, what sort of price range might be reasonable?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    noodly

Ideally it should be milled when cut, ends of pieces sealed and then stacked to dry. Don't forget the stickering when you stack the pieces.

Otherwise cut into suitable lengths, seal all ends and then stack for drying.

Ideally either stack should be out of direct sunlight and where there is good air circulation.
