    Default More recycled oregon

A builder mate of mine turned up yesterday with some oregon beams. They had to be cut in half (where 7+ metres long)

    These ones are 4" x 8"

Don't kind of know what I'm going to use them for.

    Another load is expected today.

    Default The Oregan.

    Hi Steve,
Those planks bring back a few memories for me.
Back in 1972, they were pulling down some older shops in Moorabool Street in Geelong, Vic.
I happened to go for a look around the back, & here were these 2 planks of Oregan bolted together, 24Ft. 11in. x 3in. & heavy as all get out.
Asked a chap if they were for sale & the price. " Give us 4 Bucks, mate & their yours ".
Fri. Night Shopping had just started, & here I am with these Planks, well out over the front of the Austin 1800, & well out the back of the Trailer, going through the Centre of the City at 7pm at night.
A big surprise was in store for me, as the bolts were Hand made. Parted the 2 & there were these Designs, I think of Roofing Stresses, all over the 2, all cut with a V Tool or such.
So 1 had to be cut for the Bench, Planed with a Stanley 110, the rest are holding up my 2 Roller Doors. Part of the second one was used as part of the Lathe bench which was filled with Sand.
The rest of it is up in the Roof waiting to be used for who knows what.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Lovely..

There is another plank about 30' x 12" x 4" but the boys at the site are fighting over it. They a bit peaved when the found out why my mate works on the weekends. He is only there to salvage the timber from the skip bin .

Anyway the next load is 4" x 2" hardwood. He wants a bed made.... The things we have to do for free timber.
