    Exclamation steering wheel wood???

A friend is restoring an old Bugatti car and needs to make a wooden steering wheel. We guess it would be made of English Walnut. Is there anywhere in Australia where you can bye this wood.

Mahogany is more traditional for steering wheels than Walnut.

I agree with WW. I have a Derrington and it appears to be laminations of mahogany.

I made one for a friends 1916 Autocar lorry

There were a few scraps of the original wood, enough to get a profile and being from an American truck it was probably hickory, the nearest I could get was ash.
