    Default Good wood.

A friend of mine sent me these pics from a wood show he recently attended. I am not qualified to answer any questions but I thought that some of you might find them interesting.........

I dont mind the odd bit of rustic but when there is so much of it together it is overpowering.
A bit like Fred Flintstone's house.

Reminds me of my time in the Yukon and Alaska, log cabin and furniture to suit. I loved seeing the log cabins being built, just a big log box and then out came the chainsaw, windows, doorsways and furniture.

    Hi bullfright

As long as man will exist on this earth, this rustic type furniture will never stop to be made. Lost of people out there, make a living out of fabricating this type furniture, but a lot of it is made as DIY projects from individuals with some tools and time to spare. Myself, many years ago have dedicated some of my carpentry time to built these things, as I was surrounded by natural raw product. I stopped when I started to see pieces of furniture out of every single tree or shrub everywhere I went, this is including holidays, weekends, public holidays, public land, private property, day, night and on dreams...!yeah, was that bad. I could see a complete chair out of the branches of most trees I look at, this is very important and necessary to be able to created such structures, imagination is a tool and a bonus but certainly become an abnormal fixation/addiction, so I cut the problem from its roots...! it did work for a few years, with a few other "fixations" in between, at the moment I'm going trough the stage of seeing turning timbers on nearly every tree i out my eyes on, for my own disgrace, I'm surrounded by trees again so, HERE WE GO AGAIN...!

    Cheers

    Nice post RBTCO, thanks.
I only found an appreciation for wood in my older years. Some of my long gone friends would turn in their graves if they knew that "Plastic man" had found that wood is king.
I have been on beaches where driftwood is piled 10 feet high and I have been unable to choose a decent piece yet more talented people can convert these strange shapes into all kinds of things.
I hope my talents will improve as I spend more time around trees and wood products.
