MK3 What to do?
At the men's shed which I attend, we often get donations or 'get what you can for me' on old MK3 Triton tables. Let's face it. They are not that popular. But what do you do? You can't turn these retired woodworkers away. Does anyone want them any more?
It's not allowed to take them on spec and advertise them here for 'make an offer'. And i agree with that. But what do you do apart from sent the poor old bu%$er away?

Put it on Ebay and let the market decide.

Thanks for the reply Big Shed. I don't sell on E Bay due to my problem with PayPal which I am told is compulsory for sellers.
I'm comfortable with the pricing of the 2000 but taking on a few MK3s I could end up with a shedfull. I suppose they would make a pretty good bench.

There's always Gumtree, no Paypal and it's free (I believe, haven't used it myself).
The other alternative(s) are to accept the donation of the MK3(s) and put them on the Market Place Free section here, or put them in the Market Place Tools etc section and put a nominal price on it(them).
That way they are passed on to other woodworkers at either a nominal cost, or free.

Jim,
I found the manual at the Mens Shed today. If you need it I can post. I also found a small black bracket in the car- part of the fence arrangement? You probably don't need it but it's here.

Just curious, what's wrong with the MK3? I picked up an MK3 New Series recently, as a bday present to myself. I have only a tiny little basement workshop, so it seems perfect. Plus it was cheapish. I haven't yet got around to properly setting it up though, as I've been organising the garden. Wondering if there is anything I should look out for.

Spent today setting mine up, unfortunately it's not in fantastic condition. The top has a lot of bubbled paint and rust. I did manage to get it adjusted, although getting the blade square to the table was very very difficult, and I'm still not sure it's right. I'm wondering if the table is a bit buckled. Didn't get a chance to do any test cutting, that's for tomorrow.
Does anyone know if it's possible to match the paint on these things? I think I should try to clean the rust up on the top, so the timber slides smooth, but I'd hate to have to repaint the whole thing some other colour.

Hi Mooncabbage
This may be helpful for you in squaring up the blade with the rip fence. I have seen Mk3' parts go cheap on ebay and Gum Tree in the past. If the top is bubbled you are going to have trouble. I had an original Triton that was given to me. It was never used and sat in a shed for years and allowed to rust. I had it sand blasted and repainted (grey) but the top was never truly flat. I see the difference now that I have a Mk3 in good condition.
