Will October EVER arrive?
Been having a look at the Triton website, waiting for the availability of a number of tools due shortly (October) to be on the market.
Looks like the Belt and Disk Sander has, as there is no "available October" showing now
So now we are waiting for the thicknessers (especially that awesome 16"!)
and the 3 in 1 sander that I hear is a real ripper
Anyone planning on getting any of these?
Another interesting aside: if you look at the image for the Premium Router Bits, you see the hand-powered Triton Countersink. I haven't seen one of those in the shops for years (or the bit set for that matter!) I have both - hope they will make a comeback."Clear, Ease Springs"

Perhaps there is room in my shed for some more Triton gear after all...
Will be interesting to see all in action.

I think that they have done more harm than good when they keep anouncing a release date and then changing it by months. I was looking at the 3 in 1 sander which I think was due for release in June or July ..... then pushed back 3 months ..... with no further details of price etc I have lost interest and will most likely look at CT or Timbecon's dedicated spindle sanders.
Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Can't disagree with you.
Hopefully GMC will allow the products to go to market without forcing the release dates right again. At least this time around the products are ready for market, unlike the release of the powered respirator which was held up for design tweaks.
Irrespective, it has already lost sales. I had a few people that I had gotten enthusiastic about some of the new products, and after waiting for the release, were very frustrated when the products were delayed, and bought competitors products.
But if all goes to plan, we should see some good new orange products on the shelves soon."Clear, Ease Springs"

Tritons new goodies
Hi there,
I too am considering Tritons new goodies, namely the 3 in 1 sander. Does anybody have an idea of how much this unit will cost, and wether it will be out before 2008. Triton are getting to be like Microsoft.
Regards

The equivalent Carbatec 3 in 1 sanding centre has a 1HP motor compared to the 1/2 HP in the Triton 3 in 1 sanding centre - according to the details on the Carbatec and Triton web sites.
Growing old is much better than the alternative!

I had a long & interesting talk with the original owner of Carbatec (pre-franchising) some years ago about motors & 'horsepower' - seems the Taiwanese will stamp any horsepower you want on the motors they put in the machinery - same motor, different number of horses - they had offered to make some motors 1.5 HP but they would be the same as the .75 hp motors they regularly used - he had declined the offer & told them to just put the 'regular' rating on the motor.
So the 1 hp Carbatec motor may well be the same motor as the Triton motor, just Triton may rate it at a lower hp & insist that it be stamped accordingly, while Carbatec get the version stamped the same as Timbecon and the rest of the world - and no dishonesty on the part of Carbatec/Timbecon or Triton.

I wouldn't be bothered with any claimed horsepower rating shown on a motor these days. It would seem that the asian manufacturers can't tell the difference between input (watts of power consumption) and horsepower which is the power available at the drive shaft.
Every motor you see these days, the power consumption is then taken as the power output ie, 750w consumption must be a 1 HP motor (assume 745.699 861 111 = 750). This would mean that there are no frictional or heat losses or any other loss within the motor.
Oh Joy - the perfect 100% efficient engine

Bloody Annoyed!!!!
Well folks October's here but a lot of the promised Triton stuff isn't!!
In fact, according to the Triton website, you'll have to wait until 2007 for your thicknesser 380mm or 330mm, wet and dry sharpener, and bandsaw 300mm or 200mm.
I've been deliberately delaying projects waiting for some of this stuff and right up until the promised release in October the web site never gave any hint that there may be any (further) delays.
Pretty -poor way to treat a (once) loyal customer base in my opinion - looks like I'll be shopping elswhere:mad:

Even I didn't know these products were not going to be delivered as promised until after the expected date has come and passed, and the website is quietly updated.
I am very disappointedLast edited by Stuart; 12th October 2006 at 11:25 AM.

unfortunately the release date of some of the tools was extended due to unforeseeable delays in the factory. This certainly was not our intention to delay them as we are as keen to see them on shop floors as you all are to buy them. I can tell you that the dates of January are firm and will not change again.
The 2 belt and disc sanders are now in stock. You will find most retailers will have to special order these tools in.
Hope that helps.

Thats good mate
BTW whats the ballpark price on the wet dry sharpener
If you don't want to post it here could you PM me with an approximate amount like between 200 and 260 or whatever as I would like to get one but if the triton is too exie then I will get another brand now and not wait till next year as I have already put off this purchase waiting for the triton one to come on line.
