Router Plate Inserts
Several threads have referred to the unevenness of the Triton Router table. Mine's not even either but more worrying is that the black plastic inserts sit proud of the router plate - by as much as 1.5 mm or so. This makes for very poor routing and repetition is almost impossible. Try using a panel raising bit with this arrangement!
I was excited to read the thread referring to the phenolic router plate by 'pellcorp' but I fear this will require building a completely new table.
I have tried sanding the surface of one of the inserts but there is not much material to work with and I'm likely to end up with a tissue-paper thin insert if I continue.
Finally, and this may be stupid, but do we need to use the inserts at all? I suppose there are safety issues with potential for smaller bits to fall through the opening, but are there others?
Stu's fix for a new table top seems the best option - but what a hassle!
Cheers
