Hi all,

I haven't been able to find this answer. Pardon if it's already here somewhere. If it's been answered a reference to the thread would be appreciated.

I recently won an auction on ebay for an older router stand, table and AJA plate. There was nothing else, no fence nor brackets etc, and the older router table has some pistol drill ventilation but hey $50....

The older table (RTA200?) fits the stand fine, but my rta300 doesn't. The locating pieces (opposite the red plastic clips and near the on off switch) are sheet steel punched out of the stand end, not the knobs on the newer model. They measure about 11 mm or something while the holes in the rta300 are about 8 mm. Is there a recommended modification here ? I can file slots at 12 and 6 o'clock on the table holes or I can file down the sheet steel fins to 8mm.

This purchase has got me in a nice position once I solve the above issue. I can set up the rta300 permanently in the stand, fit my jigsaw upside down to the aja plate and with a quick as you go top swap go from circular saw to jigsaw (I know it's not that precise but I want the fixed jigsaw for some very specific work and it'll do just fine).

I also discovered that the rta300 fence fits the mk3 top. I know, I'm slow. But apart from being a truly lovely router fence it's a none too poor saw fence also. Very nice. I agree with the previous comments about the rta300 being in some ways less nice than the earlier router table. The fence is great but the sliding table bit, the loss of router bit depth and the inability to fit a jigsaw without another kit is a backward step IMO. Still for the price the table is pretty much thrown in free so...

I also got the respirator on for the first time today in hot weather. Some perspiration around the ears but no more than wearing ear muffs alone, and none elsewhere. Mine is still a little under spec for flow but I'm giving it a good chance to come good before I call triton on their offer of a replacement battery pack.

By the way, jaycar has batteries you could fit to it if yours wear out. D cells with a tang on them.

Anyway you all probably know all this already...

Hope everyone had a nice Australia day..
