    It works perfectly !!!

The router collet sticks completely through the router table allowing complete and easy access for changing bits.
A win for the Good Guys! Good stuff Gazza

Doug - sorry to hear how difficult it is proving.

Trying to visualise what you are working on- have you tried hard-mounting the sub-base to the bottom of your router? Given the clearance between the sub base and the router mounting plate, you can fit a reasonable sized bolt head in there (and/or washer). I wouldn't worry about mangling the holes for the triton router - the subbases are available as a spare from Triton for all of $12 or so. I have bought a few in the past, and fixed them to various jigs so I can quick-release the jigs onto the Triton router.

    Hopefully that all makes sense!

    Gazza,

You have discovered what I was about to tell you. Congratulations on buying your new Triton Router, "WHEN" you have had a good play with it please get back here and tell everyone how it is and what you think. I am confident you will be happy with it.

well i have now mounted my makita 3600br onto the router mounting plate by removing the plastic sub base and screws. i used the plastic sub base to locate teh sites for the new holes in the mounting plate. they are 4mm screws so i originally thought i would drill the holes to 6mm to allow for adjustment using the clamp bases supplied for non triton routers. but, when i was about to drill the 6mm holes i decided to try a 4.5mmhole first, then i tried fitting the router and checking it for centre, teh plan being to drill out the holes by .5mm at a time till i could centre teh cutter in the mounting plate. BINGO, i got it spot on first time with the 4.5 mm drill so now that babys not going anywhere!!!!! now the triton router has nothing on me (except about 1000watts adn variable speed)
total cost of project - 4 x 4mm dome head bolts and spring washers - $0.45
and now ive put all the clamps, clamp bases and springs and washers in the toolbox (wondering how much money it would save if that was an optional extra on the router table instead of coming standard)

Anyway im rapt in the result
