Default Does this triton jigsaw exist

    Hi All,

I was just looking around the net and noticed the following triton jigsaw on ebay. I'm looking to pickup a jigsaw soon, but when I go to the triton website they don't list any jigsaws only circular saws.

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

Is this some sort of triton knock off cause I was interested in one of the JOF routers they had at $100 cheaper than carbatec. Thought I'd check out this mystery first.

    Cheers
    David

I don't know if modern Triton makes this one, but they certainly sold these in pre-bankruptcy days.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

I'm pretty sure this is the same jig saw Trade Tools now sell as their own brand for $98.

I picked up the Triton version as a Bunnings runout a couple of years ago. Personally I don't like it. Too heavy and difficult to get into the nooks and crannies I usually try to get at with it.

I'm pretty sure that Triton Today don't make them anymore.

I had a GMC jigsaw that was faulty, so I returned it. They offered me the Triton jigsaw as pictured, so I took it as a replacement. So far it has been excellent.
(The exchange routine took place just before GMC imploded.)

I have the same one - I agree it is bulky and also heavy but I think that also makes it more stable than my old lightweight B&D which jumps around like a demented rabbit when it touches any material. I really like the way the Triton tries to maintain a constant speed even as load is varied - it does take some getting used to but after a bit of practice it is OK to use.

Yes. I'm probably trying to use it as the wrong tool. When I reach for a jigsaw these days I probably should be using a reciprocating saw instead.

The ebay link goes to cheaptoolsau which is the ebay identity of Bairnsdale Electrics.
They were an original Triton retailer and service/warranty agent, and aquired and moved a lot of the Triton and GMC stock during the bustup, and have had a significant Triton presence on Ebay since then. Not sure whether they bought up everything they could at the bustup time and are still clearing it, or they have a direct line into Triton somehow and are getting current stock not availble to anyone else, but they get it and support it. Until the Carbatec deal came about, and then the Kingchrome deal, they were the only source of parts and support available. I have a batch of stuff sourced through them just after the bustup, and have been happy with my dealings with them.
