Default Triton Powered Respirator Ear Muffs

Has anyone with a Triton Powered Respirator had a similar problem to me with the ear muff bracket coming loose from the hard hat? It happened as I was taking the respirator off. One of the ear muffs and its bracket came adrift.

What seemed to have happened was this: At the top of the bracket is a peg which goes into a keyhole shaped slot on the black fitting attached to the hat. All that appears to hold it in place is a small moulded lug on the peg. In my case, this lug had broken off the peg and thus there was nothing to keep it in place on the hard hat.

Triton replaced the brackets last December under warranty and I hope they will do so again.

I am interested in hearing if any other users have had this problem with the ear muffs on their respirator.

    Short answer is no.

How are you removing the helmet from your head?

this happens all the time if the ear muffs are pull to far outwards the lug will brake have seen this happen its a bad design and triton should look at it ,,you have to turn then 1/4 to get the ear muffs off the hat

or you have just got a fat head

Happy to report that I have received replacement parts from Triton. I emailed them last Thursday and received the parts this morning. Great service!
I notice that the parts have been redesigned to eliminate the plastic lug in favour of a small washer and screw. A much better arrangement.

My respirator is about 1 1/2 years old. One of the earmuffs came loose such that it wouldn't reattach, some time ago. I removed the muff and duct-taped the ear-hole closed. Recently, the other one got so that it wouldn't stay in the "up" position, so I finally got fed up and removed that one, as well.

There is a post somewhere on the forum where one member replaced the earmuffs with a piece of cardboard or something because he didn't need the earmuffs when he was using the helmet. The post shows how he did it.

Are you therefore not using ear muffs with your helmet? Is your work environment not noisy enough for ear muffs or are you using some alternative, say ear plugs?
