    Default Block plane question

G'day all. My Union Tool Co. block plane and Stanley No4 arrived today. I took the block plane apart to cleran it up and lap the blade I put the try square across the blade edge and its skewed about 4 or 5 degrees. Is that normal or has someone modified it?
    Cheers

It's just been sharpened that way. If it was a skew, think closer to 20-30 degrees.

Get it back to square whichever way works best for you. But it's not that critical as it will prolly work just fine the way it is.

Before you re-sharpen it square, check it in the plane. It's not unheard of for the bed to be skew-wiff, requiring the blade to be sharpened with an angle so that it protrudes evenly.

    Still on for Wed?

Nope, the bed's all square. Its a well kept little plane. It looks as though the blade was made like that. And its more like 10 -15 degrees on second look.

Still on for Wed. I'll be the one holding the piece of King Billy in one hand and the Huon Pine in the other.
