Camellia Oil
I bought a bottle from Woolworth Inalloo store in WA about 4 weeks ago, they had it marked as dicontinued line, the price was $5.00 bottle. I noticed last time I was in the store about a week ago the shelves were clear of this oil.
I should have purchased 2 or 3 bottles.

I have read about Camellia Oil from what I found in this thread. I though that I give it a go. I have looked at Bunnings, Woolies and some health food outlets. No one other then Carbatec have this item and that is $27 for 240ml.
Where else can I find this around Sydney?

Here is something that is going to be a concern. When I was last at Carbatec, I was also with a friend. She ended up buying a Japanese carving knife from them. They also showed her the Camellia oil and suggested using this item as part of the maintance for the knife. Another worker behind the counter also said the same thing and that they use this on their knifes.

christos,
was it a chef 's carving knife or a wood carving knife?. I don't think it would do any harm to use camelia oil on either knife, provided it was for the purpose of keeping them from rusting, regardless of additives of mineral oil or preservatives being present.
I think that a good wipe over with a dry cloth before use in the case a wood carving knife, or in the case of use in food preparation, a wash in warm soapy water, no harm would be caused to humans, or carved wood.

Anyone able to get some Camellia Oil. I've tried the usual suspects, then Asian shops around Penshurst/Hurstville. No Go.

It was a little while back but blindly walking thought Woolworth's buying groceries I managed to find a bottle. Not in the spray bottle so it had to be cheaper. It was.
There is another place that I have been able to source Camellia Tea - Certified Organic Vegetable & Carrier Oils - ACO 10282P - New Directions Australia
At the time that I was driving by they did not have it but Woolies did.

Yeah I agree, they do stock it. I would have bought from them at the time I first talked to them. The only thing that put me off was when they said that it might have some additives not to be consumed. At the time I was not sure but did not want to risk using this for a food carving knife?
The stuff that I found was food grade Camellia Oil can be used for cooking. And a friend of mine actually did that. My fault for keeping this in the kitchen.
